3 Tips for Choosing Your Wedding Event Outfits
By Stephanie Boully | Personal Stylist & Closet Editor
Congratulations! Your big day is on the way, and with it so many fun events and memories to be made! Whether you are having a very traditional wedding or you are thinking completely outside the box you will most likely be planning for more than just your actual wedding day.
The engagement party and photoshoot, hunting for the perfect dress, venue scouting, vendor searching, menu tastings, the bachelor and bachelorette parties, the bridal shower, the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, the after-party, the day after brunch….the list goes on and on, especially if you want to make a big thing out of every special moment. And why wouldn’t you? This is after all one of the most significant time periods in your life!
But with so many individual events to think of, the same question always pops up: WHAT TO WEAR?
It’s difficult to say what exactly you should wear to each of your occasions since every bride and wedding are so very different. So let’s dive into the key points to consider when choosing what to wear.
#1 COMFORT IS THE NAME OF THE GAME
You will be mingling with lots of family and friends, you will be on your feet a lot, and you will have long days so -especially as the bride- it is absolutely essential that you are 100% comfortable in what you are wearing. Make sure that you have shoes that won’t make your feet ache or give you blisters if you are wearing any type of shapewear that you can easily take it off for going to the bathroom and changing in and out of, and that your outfit makes you feel good when sitting, standing, eating and dancing. You definitely won’t want to wear extremely tight or highly restrictive clothing. You will want to feel free as a bird, to enjoy all of your amazing days!
#2 MAINTAIN YOUR DRESS CODE
Whatever dress code you and your soon-to-be spouse have designated for your wedding and other events, make sure that you yourself are complying with it too. Whether it’s Black Tie/Formal, Cocktail, Casual….you as the bride, should definitely be the best-dressed person in the room, after all, your loved ones have come from near and far to celebrate you and your special someone.
#3 BELL OF THE BALL
All of these wedding events will be oh so special and together they will make up one of the most incredible moments in your life. They are quite literally all about you, your spouse, and your love for one another. We often get caught up in life and in doing things for other people, but this is your time to shine and have the spotlight on you.
The bottom line is that you should dress in whatever makes you feel spectacular, in clothes that flatter you, that bring out the best in you, and that highlight you in all the right places. The happy couple is the star of these special days and all focus, eyes, and raving love should -and will be- on you. So make sure that your outfits reflect who you are, your style and make you feel like the fantastic and gorgeous bride (to be) that you are.
One final tip…#4, if you will. Hire a stylist! Someone who understands your style, the vibe, and the vision of your wedding and wedding events. A Stylist can guide you on which direction to go in for all of your outfits, can shop with you, and be there for you throughout the whole process (from conception to day-of results).
